Breaching the capillary time-step constraint using a coupled VOF method with implicit surface tension

چکیده

The capillary time-step constraint is the dominant limitation on applicable in many simulations of interfacial flows with surface tension and, consequently, governs execution time these simulations. We propose a fully-coupled pressure-based algorithm based an algebraic Volume-of-Fluid (VOF) method conjunction implicit linearised treatment that can breach constraint. advection interface solved together momentum and continuity equations flow single system equations, providing coupling between pressure, velocity VOF colour function used to distinguish interacting fluids. Surface treated formulation Continuum Force (CSF) model, whereby both curvature gradient are implicitly respect function. presented results demonstrate larger than be applied this new numerical framework, as long other relevant restrictions satisfied, including restriction associated tension, density well viscosity.
